WHICH DELIVERY OF INSTRUCTION IS RIGHT FOR ME?

We are proud to offer so many choices for busy educators. Whether you opt for the face to face classes that run during the school year and in the summer at school districts across the state or the online courses that offer more flexibility, we have an option that works for you. Below you will find a description of each of the options that we offer. Read through each of these carefully to determine which format would work best for you.

Note: The course work in all of our format offerings builds on the previous class. Therefore it is most strongly recommended (but not required) that you take the courses in sequence. If you do not take the courses in sequence you must understand that you will still be responsible for learning items that have been covered in previous classes and are a part of the course work in the class you are taking.

Traditional Face to Face Courses:

  • Usually offered on Friday evenings from 4:30pm - 10:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:30am - 4:30pm.
  • Each course meets 3 weekends over a period of 9 weeks
  • Entire certificate can be completed in less than 9 months
  • All materials are available online, no books to purchase
  • For each 3 credit course students should spend approximately 28-42 hours studying and working on projects during the weeks between each weekend session
  • This format is perfect for educators just getting started with using technology and who would prefer meeting with the instructor and classmates on a regularly scheduled basis.

Accelerated Summer Face to Face Courses:

Week Format

  • Offered in the summer starting in the middle of June and running for approximately 4 1/2 weeks
  • The courses meet Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Due to the accelerated nature of these courses educators must sign up for all three when choosing this option.
  • All materials are available online, no books to purchase
  • You will be expected to work on assignments and projects in the evenings during the week and on the weekends
  • This format is perfect for educators that would prefer to take classes in the summer when they have more time to focus on their studies.

Weekend Format

  • Offered in back to back classes every weekend
  • The back to back classes start in early to mid May and run every weekend except holiday weekends so that you can start 810 in May and finish 812 by late July or early August
  • These classes will meet on Friday evening and all day Saturday or, at some sites, Thursday evening and all day Friday
  • All materials are available online, no books to purchase
  • You will be expected to work on assignments and projects during the week
  • This format is perfect for educators that would prefer to take classes in the summer when they have more time to focus on their studies.

Online Courses:

  • Each 3 credit course is 8 weeks in length with each course following consecutively after the other
  • This is an accelerated format in comparison to most 3 credit university courses that run for 15 weeks
  • All materials are available online, no books to purchase
  • You are expected to work 18-24 hours per week to cover the assigned material and to complete the assignments
  • This format works best for educators that would like to work on their own schedule* and who can navigate the Internet, send emails with attachments, understand how to upload files to a site and have a basic understanding of technology
  • For many educators that have additional responsibilities such as coaching this amount of commitment may become a challenge.

*Note: The online format is NOT work at your own pace. Each session is open for approximately 2 weeks. Within that two week time frame you are expected to complete the assigned work. You are given flexibility in that you do not have to be online at a certain time on a certain day, however, you are expected to be online each week.
