CONGRATULATIONS to all our students who graduated this spring and will be graduating this summer!
We were honored to welcome the students who made the journey up to campus to walk across the stage at Breslin. Many of the students had never stepped foot on campus until graduation day!
What exactly is 21st Century Learning? Different people and groups seem to mean different things when they use that phrase. Some see 21st Century Learning as equivalent to integrating new Web 2.0 technologies into the curriculum, while others argue for an increased curricular emphasis on specific skills like creativity and innovation.

Another spring semester is in full swing! As our program grows we are continually refreshing our program options. We recently published the 2011 MAET Program Guide to help you understand all of choices available to you as a member of team MAET.

We’re very proud of Spring 2010 alum Allison Dailey and current student Bridgit Spielman on receiving Donorschoose.org grants! DonorsChoose.org is online charity that makes it easy for anyone to help students and classrooms in need.
Summer semester is always the flurry of activity for us at MAET. Our online, on-campus and overseas cohorts are all running and the amount of activity and ideas generated comes to a heightened level of excitement. Our students give up time by the lake or sitting on the beach for screentime and discussions about technology, pedagogy and content knowledge. (Some of our ingenious students have found ways to do both at the same time!)

Since this is the first newsletter of the new year, please allow me to wish you all a wonderful 2010. In this note I would like to share some exciting news about a new program that we are rolling out in our department. But before that, a story about art and science, and how the web, brings it all together.
I have been thinking quite a bit recently about how the open nature of the Internet has the potential to fundamentally change how we think about education and learning.
